A little quiz to discuss

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Activity type: this is a quiz which uses colors to represent feelings towards people. You can do this for fun in class possibly as a warmer or as a part of a larger lesson about colors etc.

Level: Intermediate and above

Teacher's notes:

Tell the students to listen to you and to answer questions that you ask. Tell them to note down their answers.

Ask the students to think of someone who you know and who is important to you that you feel represents the following colors. Think of one person per color. Do not repeat a name.

Say the following colors:

Yellow
Orange
Red
White
Green

Allow the students time to write down a name under each color. They can show their names to their partners and discuss who the people are that they wrote down and why those people represent those particular colors to them.

Then tell them the meaning of the colors.

Yellow represents someone who you will never forget.
Orange represents someone who is a true friend.
Red represents your true love.
White represents your soul mate or twin soul.
Green represents someone who you will remember for the rest of your life.

Ask the students whether they believe in these types of quizzes and whether they think this quiz is correct/accurate.

You may then want to ask the students which their favorite colors are.
